    Do you have a family member with diabetes? Are you over 45? Do you exercise? Are you overweight, or been diagnosed with high blood pressure? Then you’re at risk for chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

    Health Matters is a healthy lifestyle program developed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to help persons with a condition called pre-diabetes to avoid developing Type 2 diabetes through food selection, exercise, and weight loss. The program is not a quick fix! It demands a year-long commitment to attending class, increasing exercise to 150 minutes per week, losing 5-7% of body weight, and learning and implementing healthy food selection and preparation. Class meets every week for 16 weeks, then every other week, and eventually monthly over the course of the year. This national program is led by Lifestyle coaches and boasts a 58% success rate in reversing pre-diabetes or delaying type 2 diabetes!
