Thunder Mountain Volleyball Team Sweeps Kings at Ketchikan

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Thunder Mountain senior Sydney Strong totaled 22 kills and 45 digs, junior Mallory Welling 16 kills, and junior Talita Toutaiolepo 43 passing attempts as the Falcons swept the Ketchikan Kings on the road by match scores of 3-0 Friday and 3-1 Saturday.

      Thunder Mountain won with set scores on Friday of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-7.

      On Friday, Strong had 31 attacks with 12 kills, Welling 19 and nine, junior Moana Tuvaifale 11 and four, senior Molly Brocious seven and two, sophomore Ashlyn Gates five and two, sophomore Kaidree Hartman one and one, senior Solveig Wolter five and zero and senior Riley Harp one and zero.

      Tuvaifale led with 17 assists, Brocious 10 and Welling and Harp one apiece.

      Strong led with 19 digs, Brocious 14, Toutaiolepo nine, Tuvaifale six, Gates, Welling, Solveig and Hartman two each.

      Strong had 20 service attempts with 16 points won, Tuvaifale 12 (2 aces) with seven points won, Gates 11 (2 A) with 8 PW, Welling 10 (1 A) with 5 PW, Brocious 10 (1 A) with 5 PW, and Wolter 10 (1 A) with 5 PW.

      Wolter led with three blocks, Brocious two, Gates, Welling and Tuvaifale one each.

      Toutaiolepo led with 19 passing attempts, Strong seven, Hartman six, Tuvaifale five, Brocious three and Welling two.

      On Saturday, Thunder Mountain set scores were 25-22, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-16.

      Strong had 37 attacks with 10 kills, Welling 24 and seven, Brocious 19 and seven, Tuvaifale 18 and four, Gates nine and four and Wolter three and two.

      Tuvaifale led with 22 assists and Brocious 12.

      Strong led with 26 digs, Toutaiolepo 18, Tuvaifale 11, Brocious nine, Welling five, Hartman three, senior Jorda Basaliso two, Gates and Wolter one apiece.

      Welling had 24 service attempts (2 A) with 16 points won, Brocious 20 (6 A) with 13 PW, Gates 13 (2 A) with six PW, Wolter 13 (1 A) with five PW and Tuvaifale 11 with three PW.

      Wolter led with two blocks, Gates, Welling, Tuvaifale and Brocious one each.

      Toutaiolepo had 24 passing attempts, Strong 14, Tuvaifale eight, Basaliso seven, Hartman four, Brocious two and Welling one.
