Thunder Mountain Spikes Sitka on the Rock

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Thunder Mountain High School volleyball team won two matches on the road at Sitka over the weekend, defeating the Wolves 3-1 on Friday by set scores of 20-25, 25-12, 25-11 and 25-19 and winning 3-1 on Saturday by set scores of 15-25, 25-22, 25-19 and 25-10.

      Combined statistics from both nights had junior Mallory Welling with 27 kills in 70 attempts, senior Sydney Strong 24 in 64, senior Molly Brocious 18 in 49, sophomore Ashlyn Gates nine in 34, junior Moana Tuvaifale five in 36, senior Solveig Wolter two in six, senior Riley Harp two in 11, and senior Ann-Alese Rentrop one in one attempt. 

      Tuvaifale led with 30 points scored on serves and six aces, Gates 18 points with five aces, S. Strong 17 points with one ace, Welling 15 points with two aces, Brocious 14 points with five aces, Gates seven points with two aces, junior Talita Toutaiolepo three points with two aces, and Wolter two points.

      Tuvaifale led with 56 assists, Brocious 29, and Rentrope and Welling one apiece.

      Welling led with 12 blocks, Gates and Harp five apiece, S. Strong three, Wolter two, and Brocious one.

      S. Strong led with 41 digs, Toutaiolepo 36, Tuvaifale 28, Brocious 27, Welling 15, Gates and Harp seven apiece, sophomore Kaidree Hartman six, and Wolter two.

      Toutaiolepo led with 55 pass attempts, S. Strong 29, Tuvaifale 14, Hartman 12, Welling nine, Brocious seven, senior Jorda Basaliso six, and Gates one.
