Juneau Post 25 Topples Palmer, Dimond Next

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau’s Post 25 American Legion baseball team will host Dimond Post 21 on Thursday at Adair Kennedy Field. Game time is 6:30 p.m. The teams will also play Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.

      Post 25 completed a series over the Fourth of July holiday against Palmer Post 15 at Adair Kennedy Field.

      Juneau defeated Palmer 14-8 on Friday.

      Christian Ludeman went 3-3 at the plate, with three RBI, two runs scored and earning one walk.

      Oliver Mendoza, Brock McCormick, Olin Rawson and Porter Nelson had two RBI each, Chase Foster and Isaiah Nelson one apiece. Foster, Mendoza and P. Nelson had two hits each, I. Nelson, McCormick, Rawson and Kai Schmidt one each. Foster scored three runs, Mendoza, Austin McCurley and P. Nelson two each, I. Nelson, McCormick and Garrison Luben one each.

      P. Nelson started and went 3.1 innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs, striking out four and walking two. I. Nelson went 1.2 innings with one hit, one run. Luben went 1.2 innings with one strikeout and one walk.

      On Saturday Juneau fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, kept the Palmer bats quite for the remainder of the game, but managed just one run in the fifth.

      Foster went 1-3 and scored the lone run. I. Nelson had the RBI. Rawson and McCurley also had one hit apiece. Foster, Mendoza, Ludeman, McCormick and McCurley earned one walk each.

      On Sunday Juneau swept Palmer in back-to-back games 9-1 and 10-7.

      Foster led in the opener, going 2-4 with three RBI and one run scored.

      Ludeman, McCurley and P. Nelson added two hits. McCurley and P. Nelson scored two runs.

      Rawson started and went five innings with seven hits, one run, and striking out three and walking one. I. Nelson relieved for two innings and allowed two hits and struck out two and walked one.

      In the nightcap Mendoza, Ludeman and McCormick led with three hits each. McCormick and Rawson led with two RBI apiece. McCormick scored three runs, Kasen Ludeman and C. Ludeman two runs apiece, and I. Nelson, Mendoza and Joe Aline one run each.

      McCurley went two innings, allowed two hits and three runs and walked three. Kai Schmidt went four innings, allowed four hits and four runs, struck out five and walked three. Mendoza went one inning and walked one.
