Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau coach Rich Sjoroos and the Huskies fell from the ranks of the unbeaten 49-23 to West last weekend and will host top ranked East on Saturday at 3 p.m. on Adair Kennedy Field. The Huskies have beaten Colony 53-12 and Dimond 35-6 on their home AKF.
“I told them before the game that nobody wins a state title today,” Sjoroos said. “But our goal obviously is to win, you always shoot for that every time you take the field. At this point in the season too you want to be a better football team than you started the game.”

“I think we are going to be able to look at a lot of areas today,” Sjoroos said. “Just learning that some new players that can fill some roles and different things like that. I think we will be able to walk away and think ‘you know we did get better in a lot of areas.’ And there are some things they did expose us a little bit, especially when it came to tackling in the second half and things like that. But that is something you can always continue to work on and our effort was there. The determination was there and you just have to give credit to West because they are a well coached team and they definitely didn’t let the one point deficit at halftime rattle them. They came out and played a very strong second half.”
