Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears softball team will honor their two senior players on Saturday at 6 p.m. on the Melvin Park field.
JDHS coach Alexandra Razor noted that the senior night celebration will begin at 6:00 pm at Melvin park with a non-conference game against Thunder Mountain after the recognition. There will also be a JV game at 1 p.m. and varsity conference game at 3 p.m., both against TMHS.
JDHS senior Elin Antaya began her high school career as a junior varsity player from 2019-22 and is a participant on the varsity team this year as well.

Antaya stated “Next year I am attending Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata, California to study marine fisheries science with a focus on aquaculture and hopefully minoring in scientific diving. I am looking forward to being a lumberjack and then after pursuing a PHD back here in Alaska.”
Coaches Comments - Elin is one of the hardest working players and students I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She has big dreams and goals and always finds ways to work towards them. As a player Elin has improved immensely this year and I love seeing her go after a ball without fear. I know that Elin’s work ethic will help her achieve all of her dreams in the future. We will miss her smile and willingness to help the team with whatever is needed. We wish you all the luck in your future and we look forward to hearing about your future successes.
JDHS senior Kalila Arreola began her high school softball career as a junior varsity player from 2020-2022.

Arreola said she will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an undecided stem major.
Coaches Comments - Kalila started with us as a sophomore, having never played softball before. Unfortunately her first season of softball was cut short because of our COVID shut down. As a junior she returned to the team and finally got the opportunity play. Kalila has done an excellent job learning the game these past two years. Her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and athleticism have helped her pick up the game quickly. We wish we had more time with Kalila and wish her luck at Chapel Hill in the fall. We know she is destined for great things!
