Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - Authorities are searching for three youth who escaped the McLaughlin Youth Center in Anchorage Sunday night.
Officials said the youth assaulted a staff member and attempted to take keys and a radio.
The staff member was not seriously injured in the attack.
The Anchorage Police Department and other law enforcement agencies have been looking for the escapees.
Juvenile records require the identities of the youth to remain confidential.
The escape itself is being investigated by the Division of Juvenile Justice.
The last significant escape at an Alaska youth facility was in November 2014. Two staff members were assaulted by five youth at the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility. These youth were eventually apprehended and charged with assault and escape.
