Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - Congressman Don Young said he was admitted to Providence Hospital for treatment and monitoring this weekend.
Young said he was treated and released and is now resting at home, "I want Alaskans to know that their Congressman is alive, feeling better and on the road to recovery."
Young said the team at Providence did an outstanding job and their commitment to patient care is to be commended.
"I have been discharged and continue recovering and working from home. Very frankly, I had not felt this sick in a very long time and I am grateful to everyone who has kept me in their thoughts and prayers," he added.
Young took the opportunity to slam the media for what he described as an invasion of his privacy and constant speculation about his condition.
"This is irresponsible and I do not want any Alaskan to be scared of seeking testing or treatment out of privacy concerns. I encourage Alaskans to continue following CDC guidelines, practice social distancing, use a mask, and avoid crowds whenever possible.
Young said he was very encouraged by the recent information on vaccine trials. He said Alaskans must continue to look out for one another, and hunker down so that our economic health can be restored.
