Woman kicks cop during arrest

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) A woman wanted on criminal charges now faces new charges for resisting arrest.

    Alaska State Troopers said the wanted woman, Kailee Tavares, 19, of Ketchikan was reported to be inside an apartment near Austin Street.

    When Troopers searched the apartment they located the suspect hiding inside a closet.

    Troopers also report that Tavares resisted arrest by physically struggling with officers when they attempted to take her into custody.

    Troopers went on to state that while Tavares was being placed in the patrol vehicle she struck the trooper in the face with her foot.

    Tavares was held at the Ketchikan Correctional Center on charges of assault in the fourth degree on a police officer and resisting arrest.  Her bail was set at $20,500.
