Wasilla man charged with kidnapping and sexual assault

    Wasilla, Alaska (KINY) - On Thursday evening, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Wasilla resident suspected of kidnapping and assaulting a minor, leading to his arrest.

    49-year-old David Wayne Anderson was suspected in the kidnapping and assault of a juvenile female that occurred on Wednesday in Wasilla.

    On Wednesday, at around 4:30 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call that a teenager was located in the area of Sunrise Road and Sitze Road in the Wasilla area by a good samaritan.

    The teenager told Troopers that she was abducted by an unknown male near her home on Pamela Drive and Windflower Drive in Wasilla around 3:00 p.m.

    During the abduction, the juvenile reported being assaulted by the male.

    After being interviewed by Trooper investigators, Anderson was remanded without incident to Mat-Su Pretrial on charges of Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Assault, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

    The Alaska State Troopers thanked the FBI, Joint Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team, and the dozens of Alaska State Trooper Investigators and Troopers from across Southcentral Alaska that contributed to the investigation and arrest of Anderson.

    The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, and additional charges may be forwarded.
