Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Mendenhall Visitor Center in Juneau, Alaska will open again on June 1. "We've been planning this for a couple of months now and it definitely feels like the right time," said Barb Miranda, director of the center.
She added they are delighted to open their doors again after being closed since March of 2020 due to the pandemic. The center will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Unvaccinated visitors are asked to wear masks while attending.
"The local community deserves a chance to come visit it right now while we still have an independent traveler season," Miranda said. "It's a community center as well as a visitor center so we want to make sure that we're open as soon as it was safe to do so."
The first of the large cruise ships are expected to arrive in late July.
