Sitka, Alaska (KINY) - Coast Guard Sector Juneau received a report on February 26 that 52-foot fishing vessel, Haida Lady, sank between Cobb Island and Silver Point South of Sitka.

An unknown amount of unrecoverable diesel fuel was discharged from the vessel. The Coast Guard has contracted Hanson Marine to help stop pollution and recover the completely submerged boat

As of a March 2 release, the vessel is in an upright position partially above the waterline. The source of the leak has been secured. The total amount of fuel in the water is unknown still, but there's indication that 825 gallons have been removed from the boat

There were no people aboard when the boat sunk, and the cause of the incident is being investigated.
