Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - The USDA Forest Service has enacted temporary closures of Signal Creek, Last Chance, and Three C’s campgrounds between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The campgrounds remain open during the day for hiking and other foot-accessible recreational activities.

Tongass National Forest Supervisor M. Earl Stewart made the decision to close the Ward Lake recreation sites for the health and safety of the forest workforce and the public.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we all work together to minimize the impacts and spread of COVID-19,” said Stewart.

All outhouses at Ward Lake Recreation Area were temporarily closed for community health and safety on March 20, and remain closed until further notice. If you use the recreation area, please be sure to dispose of trash/waste properly.
