Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - More than six hundred photos taken this year on Alaska’s National Forests – the Chugach and the Tongass – are available for public use following a four-month annual employee photo contest.

A yearly photo challenge brings in hundreds of remarkable photos highlighting scenic landscapes, wildlife, recreational activities, flowers and fungi, forest resources, and a variety of people. The photo challenge began back in 2016 to add to the regional photo library.

The challenge runs from June through September each year.

It includes residents, families, partners, visitors, and employees.

This year was particularly outstanding with the most photo submissions since the program began.

The Alaska Region shares the resulting pictures for everyone's use.

Winners were named in eight categories and four special selections.

    Special Selections:

    • Regional Forester's Choice
    • Tongass Forest Supervisor's Choice
