Update: Fishing vessel, Haida Lady, raised and tied to shore

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Coast Guard has finished monitoring the diesel fuel clean-up near Sitka after a vessel sunk offshore.

    They contracted out a clean-up operation after a fishing vessel named the Haida Lady completely submerged. No one was aboard when she went under

    According to a release sent Thursday evening, the Haida Lady has been raised and is tied off to the shore.

    Over 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel and oily water have been removed from the fuel tanks. Another 275 gallons were removed from the surrounding water

    The Coast Guard said that at the time of the release, the environmental impacts were unknown.
