Two women rescued after becoming stranded

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - The Coast Guard rescued two kayakers Monday in Ketchikan after one of their kayaks sustained damage and took on water.

    The Coast Guard Cutter Bailey Barco recovered both kayakers and brought them to Mountain Point in Ketchikan.  There were no injuries or medical concerns reported.

    Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Juneau command center received notification from a Metlakatla fish and wildlife officer about two female kayakers stranded on Race Point in Nichols Passage Monday afternoon.

    The 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew was the first to arrive to assist the kayakers.
