Two people rescued from overturned boat

Soldotna, Alaska (KINY) A good Samaritan helped save two lives on the Kenai River.

Alaska State Troopers said a third person on board the overturned boat was missing.  A search was interrupted Monday night but resumed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on the Kenai River near the Moose Meadows area.  The good Samaritan said he spotted the three men in the water and responded with his boat.  The two rescued from the water were treated onshore by Central Emergency Services and transported to Central Peninsula Hospital.

The boat overturned when it struck a rock drifting sideways down river, troopers said.  They also reported that alcohol is not a factor in this incident.  They noted none of the three males wore personal flotation devices.
