Two news cases of COVID-19 in Juneau

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The state reported 14 new cases around the state bringing the state total to 185.

Juneau now has 14 confirmed cases of the virus.  The cause of the latest two cases was under investigation Sunday.

Two of the Juneau cases were travel related, with one from out of state, and one from within the state.  Four are still pending investigation.    Eight cases were acquired locally that could include transmission from an earlier case, or community transmission with no known identified source.

In Juneau no cases have been confirmed to have been caused by community transmission.

On Friday, the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services recommended that Alaskans wear a cloth face covering over the nose and mouth in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.  These include grocery stores and pharmacies.  They recommend Alaskans to keep those masks on until they return home.
