Two killed in whaling accident

    Utqiagvik, Alaska (KINY) Authorities are investigating what killed two men who died trying to haul in a whale.

    The Arctic Sounder newspaper reported the whaling captain and a crew member died when the boat flipped over in rough waters. Attempts were made to reach the men as 12 boats nearby responded to the scene.  They were able to pull the men from the water but could not revive them.

    The North Slope Borough issued a statement that urged the media not to release more information out of respect to the victim's families.
