Two House Fires Cause Damage in Juneau

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Capital City Fire Rescue battled fires at Switzer Village and on Fritz Cove Road.

    Crews were dispatched just after 8 am to the trailer park. Heavy flames were found upon arrival and crews said that heavy damage was done. A dog perished in the blaze. Two cats were transported for treatment. Juneau Police were also on the scene to handle vehicle traffic. 29 firemen were on the scene. The fire remains under investigation. Crews arrived at 8:25 am and had the fire under control at 8:42 am.


    Crews were also dispatched at 5:42 pm to a residential structure fire on Fritz Cove Road.  There was smoke showing from the single-family dwelling when crews arrived. The fire apparently started in a workbench in the basement of the home. This fire remains under investigation. Two cats were able to escape the flames without injury. The home is insured.
