Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska State Troopers say a 13 year old Fairbanks girl drowned at the Chena Lakes State Park on Saturday.
Troopers in Fairbanks were notified at about 5 p.m., according to a dispatch issued Sunday.
The girl is identified as Chenina Oseia. The dispatch says a juvenile relative was swimming with the girl when she ventured into deep water and disapeared.
Salcha fire and Rescue along with the North Pole Fire Department responded and began a search. The girl was located submerged about 50 yards from shore. CPR was initiated. She was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased shortly after 7 p.m.
