Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska State Troopers said traffic enforcement efforts prevented any fatal crashes on Alaska roads during the July 4th holiday period.
Troopers conducted the Holiday DUI High Visibility Enforcement Campaign between July 3 and July 6.
They report eight misdemeanor DUI arrests and no felony DUI arrests during the campaign. This compared to 10 misdemeanor DUIs and one felony arrest in 2019.
Troopers also reported they charged four drivers with driving on a suspended or revoked license.
They fielded four calls from drivers on suspected DUIs.
There were 13 property damage crashes and three crashes with an injury during the holiday period.
Troopers went on to state that 357 citations were issued, 221 of them for speeding, and 16 for a seatbelt or restraint violation.
