Transit center death results in court hearing

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Manslaughter charges were dropped as David Evenson pled guilty to criminal negligent homicide at a change of plea hearing.

    Evenson, 52, pled guilty to charges of criminal negligent homicide for an assault that turned into a death at the downtown transit center on June 30, 2017.

    Aaron Monette, 56, was killed in the assault.   He had a pre-existing brain aneurysm that ruptured during the assault and caused his death.   Evenson could face up to three years in prison and between five and ten years on probation.  His sentencing hearing was scheduled for June 29.
