Train Kills Sled Dogs

Nenana, Alaska (KINY) - A sled dog team was out training when they were struck. Two of those dogs were killed Friday according to the Alaska Railroad.

The sled team was hit Friday afternoon. The train sounded its horn and attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the collision. Railroad officials said it can take up to one mile to stop a train. The musher, who was not named, was not injured in the crash.

The report said the musher was riding an all terrain vehicle being towed by the dogs when the incident occurred. He attempted to stop the team from crossing the tracks but was unable to.
