Tongass Boulevard Reconstruction Phase II begins May 15

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Construction on Phase II of the Tongass Boulevard Reconstruction Project will begin Monday, May 15, and continue throughout the summer.

The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 1, 2023.

Phase II of this project includes the reconstruction of Tongass Boulevard from Dudley Street to Mendenhall Loop Road.

Work includes excavation and replacement of the roadbed; removal and replacement of water, sewer, and storm drain utilities and services; new pavement, sidewalks, curb, and gutter; and other miscellaneous related work.

Construction will begin at the intersection of Tongass Boulevard & Dudley Street before moving onward throughout the project area.

The intersection will be closed for approximately one month beginning Monday.

Local traffic, access to residences, and on-street parking will be impacted while this project is underway.

Please expect scheduled one-way traffic, delays, and detours during construction.

Pedestrian access will be maintained along one side of the street at all times.

Please walk and drive with caution and obey all traffic signs and safety guidance.
