One COVID case Thursday in Juneau

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The City and Borough of Juneau reported one new case of COVID-19 among residents for Thursday, March 18.

    The case has been attributed to community spread.

    There are currently 16 active cases, all in isolation. One person is hospitalized at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

    One hundred fifty-seven new people were identified with COVID-19 throughout the state--152 residents and the other five non-residents.

    Also throughout the state, three residents have passed away from the coronavirus. A female resident in her 80s from the Bethel Census Area, a male resident in his 80s from Anchorage, and a male resident in his 80s from Fairbanks.

    The total death count in Alaska is 306 people.

    According to data from the Department of Health and Social Services, US Coast Guard, and US Department of Veterans Affairs, almost 11,900 people in Juneau have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

    Statewide, that number is almost 205,000.
