Three new cases of COVID-19 in Ketchikan

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The total of cases rose to six in Alaska's First City Saturday.

Health officials said the new cases are related to two cases reported earlier this week.

Officials with the Ketchikan Gateway Borough, the City of Ketchikan and the City of Saxman said they expect up to 20 cases of the virus to be reported by Friday.

They urged residents to shelter in place and stay home.

A press release from the Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center said the three individuals self-isolated and sought testing by a local provider after they felt symptoms.

Two of these individuals were in close contact with the first identified positive case.

One of the individuals infected was in close contact with the second case.
