Stikine River Subsistence Permit & Harvest reports are due

Petersburg, Alaska (KINY) - The Tongass National Forest is requesting anglers with a Stikine River Subsistence Fishing Permit turn in their harvest reports to the Wrangell or Petersburg Ranger District offices.

"Even if they participated in an in-season phone survey, harvest reporting helps ensure the continued health of the fishery," said Andrew Sanders, a fisheries biologist for the Wrangell and Petersburg Ranger Districts.

These reports help inform management decisions for the watershed, with the goal of ensuring that sufficient numbers are allowed to escape the commercial fishery and that subsistence can be supported well into the future.

Permit holders are now requested to return harvest reports either in person or through the mail to their local ranger district office no later than October 15th, 2022.
