Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Maritime Festival is moving full steam ahead with events scheduled for May 7th at the Peratrovitch Plaza.
The festival provides a unique opportunity to learn and interact with Juneau’s maritime culture, history, and commerce.
Juneau Economic Development Council Executive Director Brian Holst talked about the event on Action Line.
"The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about how important all things Maritime are to Juneau's economy. If we look at how many people in Juneau fish every year it's almost 800. That's more than we have federal workers in Juneau. That's more than we have minors in Juneau. And yet I don't think we all think about how important the fishing and seafood industry is to our economy," Holst stated.
The Maritime Festival information and ticket sales can be found at jedc.org/maritimefestival.
