3 new coronavirus cases diagnosed in Ketchikan, Fairbanks

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Another case of coronavirus has been diagnosed in Southeast Alaska. No cases have been discovered in Juneau yet.

    Alaska Chief Medical Officer Anne Zink made the announcement Thursday, stating that another person in Ketchikan has been diagnosed with the disease.

    Additionally, two more cases have been identified in Fairbanks. This brings the total number to 12 cases.

    Previously one case was reported each in Ketchikan and Seward, with the remainder diagnosed in Anchorage and Fairbanks.

    According to Zink, the new cases were not travel-related, but she stopped short of saying they were community-spread cases.

    Additionally, two new health mandates were issued stopping elective and some dental surgeries in order to free up medical supplies.
