Teen dies in avalanche

Hatcher Pass, Alaska (KINY) - The teen was snowboarding when he was buried in an avalanche Monday afternoon.

A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said the 17-year-old male was stuck in a creek.

 

Teams of volunteers and crews from Palmer Fire & Rescue, Mat-Su EMS, the Hatcher Pass Avalanche Center, Alaska Avalanche School, and the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group assisted in the search.

 

They were able to reach the teen and free him.   He was rushed to a local hospital where he passed away.
