Tarr violated ethics law

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Rep. Geran Tarr had paid staff help organize and fundraise for a 2017 street fair in Anchorage.

A legislative ethics committee found probable cause to state Rep. Tarr violated state ethics laws.  There were no sanctions recommended against the Anchorage Democrat.

The committee strongly recommended that Tarr seek guidance from the ethics office before she commits government resources to a project that holds a private benefit.

The complaint alleged Tarr and staff members worked on the Mountain View Street Fair Festival while being paid for by the government and used government resources for a non-legislative purpose.

One part time aide spent 120 hours working on the event.
