Talkeetna woman dies in single vehicle crash

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Authorities report that a 37-year-old woman died as a result of her injuries in a single-vehicle-involved crash early Tuesday morning.

    Troopers had responded to mile 3 of the Talkeetna Spur Highway at 1:50 am Tuesday after receiving reports of a single vehicle accident with ejection.

    An investigation determined the vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed and rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels off the roadway, according to the dispatch.

    The driver and sole occupant, identified as Raeleen Shandley, age 37 of Talkeetna, was ejected during the crash and died as a result of her injuries.

    Troopers said that Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, as well as Shandley was not wearing a seatbelt.

    Shandley’s remains were turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.  

    Next of Kin was notified.
