Suspected pool thief confronted in locker room and later arrested

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau Police made an arrest at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center Sunday afternoon after a 38-year man caught the suspect going through his belongings in the locker room.

    Police received the report of the theft and a fight in the men's locker room at about 1:30 p.m.

    Police official Erann Kalwara said officers determined that the victim has just gotten out of the pool and was headed to the shower when he saw the suspect open his locker, removing a pair of pants.  He saw the suspect take his cell phone and put it in his own pocket.

    The victim confronted the suspect, threw him to the floor and removed several items from his pockets including the phone, his own credit card and a library card later determined to belong to a 15-year-old boy.

    The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Christian T. Knapp was arrested for Theft in the 2nd degree, Theft in the 4th degree and Violating Conditions of Release. He was jailed at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
