Structure Fire on North Douglas takes Two Dogs

    Juneau, AK (KINY) - A fire that burned through a home on North Douglas was knocked down by firefighters.

    The home was located at 4055 North Douglas Hwy, where an off-duty officer noticed the fire and called 911. Firefighters reported heavy smoke on arrival. No one was home at the time of the fire. Capital City Fire & Rescue reported that they were able to quickly put out the fire and that it originated in the back area of the house.

    The cause of the fire or the amount of property damage has yet to be determined. No one was injured in the blaze, but there were two dogs that perished. CCF&R attempted CPR on one of the dogs but were unsuccessful.
