State's bond rating improves

    Alaska Revenue Commissioner Lucinda Mahoney,

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - S&P Global Ratings has revised the outlook for the State of Alaska to positive from stable and affirmed its AA- rating on the state's general obligation debt.

According to a release from the Alaska Department of Revenue, S&P also revised the outlook to positive from stable on all of Alaska's bonds secured by state appropriations and affirmed the ratings on those bonds.

Revenue Commissioner Lucinda Mahoney said that even though Alaska's credit rating outlook improvements are encouraging, the state must remain vigilant in addressing long-term fiscal responsibility.  She said that includes strengthening the state's reserves for ongoing budget stability.
