State reports 97 new cases of COVID-19 Friday

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health & Social Services reported 89 new resident cases and eight new nonresident cases on Friday.

    Douglas had one new case and Juneau four new resident cases.

    The state total reached 6,113 cases.  Of these, 2,152 have recovered, 3,918 are active, 244 were hospitalized, and 43 people have died.

    The total of nonresident cases reached 911.  Of these, 704 are presumed active, and 207 presumed recovered.

    The positive test rate in Alaska for the past week is 1.82 percent.

    40 people are currently hospitalized and COVID-positive.

    New resident cases reported today included 35 in Anchorage, 27 in Fairbanks, five in North Pole, one in Delta Junction, one in Yukon-Koyukuk, four in Palmer, five in Wasilla, one in Nome, one in Bristol Bay, two in Utqiagvik, and one in the Kulsivak Census Area.

    New nonresident cases included four in Anchorage and three in Fairbanks.
