State reports 94 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health & Social Services daily report showed five new resident cases in Juneau and two in Sitka on Sunday.

    The state resident case total reached 6,836 with 2,226 cases listed as recovered and 4,565 active cases.

    In Juneau, case counts reached 250, with five new cases.

    The state said 262 people have been hospitalized, with 38 currently, and 45 deaths have been caused by COVID-19.

    There were no new nonresident cases and that total remained at 931 with 719 presumed active.

    The daily positive test rate for the past week in Alaska is 2.31 percent.

    New resident cases Sunday included 36 in Anchorage, one in Homer, one in the Valdez-Cordova Census Area, 17 in Fairbanks, three in North Pole, one in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, two in Palmer, two in Wasilla, six in the Nome Census Area, three in the North Slope Borough, nine in the NW Arctic Borough, one in Yakutat-Hoonah-Angoon, and five in the Bethel Census Area.
