State reports 112 new COVID-19 cases Thursday

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health & Social Services reported 49 new resident cases of COVID-19 in Anchorage, eight in Juneau, and 31 cases in the Fairbanks area on Thursday.

    There were 111 new resident cases and one new nonresident case.

    New resident cases now total 6,020 cases.  The state listed 2,148 cases as recovered and 3,830 as active cases.

    The state reported 243 hospitalizations and 42 deaths.

    The total of nonresident cases reached 895.

    The daily report showed a positive test rate of 1.99 percent over the past week.

    New resident cases today included three in Chugiak, two in Eagle River, one in Kodiak, 21 in Fairbanks, 49 in Anchorage, five in North Pole, five in the Fairbanks Northstar Borough, one in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, one in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, one in Palmer, four in Wasilla, two in Utqiagvik, one in the Northwest Arctic Borough, eight in Juneau, one in Sitka, two in Bethel, three in Bristol Bay, and one in the Kusilvak Census Area.

    The report found 861 inpatient hospital beds are in use with 577 beds available.  39 people are currently hospitalized and these patients have tested positive for COVID-19.

    The report also showed 84 patients in intensive care with 69 beds available.

    There are 30 ventilators in use and 256 ventilators available.
