State adds 66 cases to COVID-19 total

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health reported 65 new resident cases, including 13 in Juneau, and one nonresident case in Prudhoe Bay on Wednesday.

    The total of COVID-19 cases rose to 5,896 in Alaska.  The report showed 2,137 cases have recovered and 3,717 cases remain active.

    The report added that 239 Alaskans have been hospitalized and 42 have died during the pandemic.

    The nonresident case total is now 854 with 203 patients presumed recovered and 691 active cases.

    New resident cases confirmed Wednesday included two in Douglas, 11 in Juneau, 34 in Anchorage, one in Homer, two in Soldotna, seven in Fairbanks, three in North Pole, one in Nome, one in Utqiagvik, one in Metlakatla, and one in Bethel.
