State adds 65 new cases of COVID-19 Friday

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported two new resident cases in Juneau and four new resident cases in Ketchikan Friday.

    The report showed 59 new resident cases and six new non-resident cases.

    There was also a resident case, the first, reported in the Yakutat area. The state report was not specific as the Yakutat area also includes Hoonah and Angoon.

    The report showed 2,249 total cases and 499 non-resident cases since the pandemic began.

    The report also listed 800 cases as recovered.  There were 1,430 active cases in the state today.

    The report found no new non-resident cases in Southeast Alaska on Friday.

    New resident cases were found in Anchorage, Seward, Kenai, Cordova, Fairbanks, North Pole, the Yukon-Koyukuk area and Bethel.
