State adds 104 new cases of COVID-19

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 98 new resident cases and six new nonresident cases including three new resident cases in Juneau on Monday.

    The state total of cases has reached 2,622 with today's numbers.  The daily report showed 584 nonresident cases, 817 recovered cases, 116 people hospitalized and 21 deaths.

    Active cases have risen from 1,146 on July 19 to 1,784 today.

    The state said over 207,000 tests have been administered since the pandemic hit.

    The report also showed that state hospitals have 818 beds available, 86 intensive care beds, and 223 ventilators.

    36 people are currently hospitalized around the state with COVID-19.

    New resident cases reported today included 64 in Anchorage, one in Homer, one in Soldotna, two in Kenai, one in Cordova, three in Fairbanks, four in Palmer, three in Wasilla, one in willow, three in Utqiagvik, two in Kotzebue, three in Juneau, one in Craig, two in Sitka, one in Yakutat, one in Unalaska, and one in the Kusilvak Census Area.

    Nonresident cases were reported in Anchorage and Ketchikan.   The location of four nonresident cases was unknown.
