JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY) - During its first meeting Friday, the CBJ Assembly Mining Committee decided to add two Planning Commission members and two public members to the panel.
Chair Norton Gregory and fellow Assembly member Maria Gladziszewski were in agreement on the need for the additional members.
The panel is charged with returning recommendations to the 'Committee of the Whole' on the proposal to amend the mining ordinance. In addition to what actions should be taken on the ordinance, the panel is asked to suggest the public process that should be taken.
Persons interested in the public seats should complete an application form available in the Clerk’s Office on-line at http://www.juneau.org/clerk/b
Applications should be submitted to the Clerk’s Office no later than Monday, August 7, at 4:30 p.m. for consideration at the next meeting set for August 9 at Noon in the City Hall Conference Room.
The work of the Assembly Mining Committee is anticipated to be completed by November, according to the press release issued by City Hall.
