
Wrangell, Alaska (KINY) - A contractor was flying personnel into the hydro plant's airfield when it struck a patch of ice at the end of the strip and sustained damage to its nose.
A small plane sustained minor damage when it slid off the end of the runway at Tyee Hydroelectric Plant just southeast of Wrangell on Monday morning.
According to Steve Prysunka of Southeast Alaska Power Agency, a contractor was flying personnel into the hydro plant's airfield at approximately 9 a.m. when it struck a patch of ice at the end of the strip and sustained damage to its nose.
Prysunka added that none of the four onboard was injured and the incident remains under investigation.
