Six rescued from overturned raft

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) A raft overturned in the Talachulitna River and the occupants needed help to get out of the water.

A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said they were contacted via a satellite phone by members of the river rafting party.  The caller reported the raft had flipped and several people had gone into the water and lost their gear.

One person suffered a dislocated shoulder and cuts.  The Rescue Coordination Center launched a Blackhawk helicopter crew that was able to pick up all six members of the party near Skwentna late Tuesday and transported them to Anchorage for treatment.
