Sitka to have two sales tax free days

Sitka, Alaska (KINY) - Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, CBS is reminding residents that Friday and Saturday will be sales tax-free days.

During the Sitka Assembly meeting on Sept. 16th, the body had voted to authorize November 26th and 27th as sales tax-free days for 2021.

They said that exclusions include any sale of fuel, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, marijuana, and any sale which part of a continuing obligation of the buyer is to pay the seller over time.

Finance Director Melissa Haley noted during the meeting that the sales tax-free holidays decreased revenue by approximately $50,000.

If individuals have any questions, they can contact the CBS Sales Tax Office at 747-1840.
