Sitka man indicted on murder charges

    Juneau, Alaska KINY) - A Sitka man has been indicted on murder charges in connection with the beating death of a family member on February 14.

    A release from the Sitka Police Department says 28-year-old Patrick O'Brien is charged with murder in the first and second degrees in connection with the death of his father, 63 year James A. O'Brien Junior.

    An earlier indictment also charged him with attempted murder in the first degree, assault in the first and third degrees, misconduct involving weapons in the third and fourth degrees, and interfering with a report of a crime involving domestic violence.

    Police say the victim was assaulted with a blunt object and sustained substantial head and facial fractures.  He was medevacked to Seattle where he died.
