Sitka Assembly extends COVID-19 disaster declaration

    Sitka, Alaska (KINY) - The Assembly of the City and Borough of Sitka has extended the declaration of a local disaster emergency by the Municipal Administrator.

    The original order became effective on March 15, 2020 concerning COVID-19.

    The new declaration will remain in effect until June 30, 2021, or until COVID-19 is no longer declared a federal or state emergency, whichever occurs first.

    Under the declaration, the Municipal Administrator is authorized to continue the response and recovery aspects of all applicable local or inter-jurisdictional disaster emergency plans and to authorize the furnishing of aid and assistance under those plans.
