Sharks might be behind attacks on seals

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Seals have turned up with damaged flippers, large bite marks and even beheaded.

Alaska's Energy Desk reports that scientists are investigating to see if great white sharks are responsible for these attacks.

Kawerak subsistence coordinator Brandon Ahmasuk said killer whales are known to maim their prey.  The bite marks found on the seals are not consistent with shark attacks.

They speculate that rising ocean water temperatures could be attracting great white sharks to the Bering Sea.
