Senator Sullivan talks tough on Russia

Washington, DC (KINY) Alaska junior US Senator Dan Sullivan said he would take a more aggressive approach with Russia as summit talks begin today in Helsinki.

Senator Sullivan said Russia must be considered an adversary of the US.  He spoke on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday.  He said Congress and the Trump Administration have already taken concrete actions to counter Russian aggression, "We are rebuilding our military.  Our administration has given the Javelin anti tank system to the Ukraine."

"Russia is clearly an adversary and its a country we need to take aggressive actions towards,' he added

Senator Sullivan said he hopes President Trump makes clear to Vladimir Putin that US-Russian relations will not change unless Russia ends its occupation of Crimea, that was seized from the Ukraine in 2014, "If you want a better relationship and sanctions lifted, it has got to be up to you.  Don't invade your neighbors and move out of the countries you've invaded."
